AdvantaChart Releases Version 5.0
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (November 15, 2006) – After a record year of growth, Joyce Crawley, President of AdvantaChart, Inc., announces that AdvantChart 5.0 has been released to its current users and is now available for new clients. AdvantaChart 5.0 is an Electronic Medical Records software application (EMR) for physicians who practice obstetrics and gynecology. Valuable new features of AdvantaChart 5.0 include the Paper Chart Scanning Module and the Patient Tracking System.

One of the challenges in the transition from paper charts to electronic charts is deciding how to manage the old paper charts. Using the Paper Chart Scanning Module, the old paper chart becomes a part of the new electronic chart. “The Scanning Module in AdvantaChart is 2 to 3 times faster than the traditional way of scanning in old patient charts. It saves a lot of time, ” states Ethan Simpson, Medical Records Manager at Richmond Women’s Healthcare in Richmond, KY.

This innovative bar code scanning technology has three advantages. First, the entire old chart can be fed into the scanner all at one time, eliminating the costly time standing at the scanner. Second, the bar coding allows the images of the old paper chart to be properly mapped into the patient’s electronic chart, making it easier and quicker for the physician to view a patient’s prior medical history. Timely access to a patient’s history is a critical component in the proper diagnosis and treatment of patient conditions. Lastly, the Scanning Module reduces the space needed for chart storage, which provides room for additional patient treatment areas or decreases the space requirements (and rents) for physician practices.

The Patient Tracking System in AdvantaChart 5.0 traces the patient’s path through their visit. “We like the Patient Tracking System because it saves staff time and makes the office more efficient, ” says Bryan Swan, MD, with Women’s Health Specialists in Miami, OK. At any given time, the Patient Tracking System allows the physician and staff to view a snapshot of which patients are checked in and where patients are located during their visit (eg, in the waiting room or in an exam room). The Patient Tracking System also can also produce reports on how quickly patients are flowing through their visit, which is important to physicians as they are working to improve their service to patients.

Additionally, AdvantaChart 5.0 includes a new pain assessment form, 11– 13 weeks screens for obstetric patients, and enhanced audit capabilities.
